1.Microeconomics Microeconomics is the study of the behaviour of individual markets.

2.Macroeconomics

Macroeconomics is the study of how an economy functions as a whole.

3.Utility

Pleasure that an individual derives from the consumption of a good or service.

4.Production possibilities curve 

Shows the maximum combinations of goods or services that can be produced by an economy in a given time period if all the resources are efficiently and fully used.

5.Ceteris paribus

Assumption that all other variables are held equal when one variable is altered in an economic model.

6.Positive economics

Economic matters that can be proven right or wrong when the facts are examined.

7.Actual output

Actual output is the production of goods and services achieved in an economy in a given time period.

8.Potential output

Potential output is the possible production achievable by an economy if all available factors are employed.

9.Normative economics

Normative economics refers to economic matters that are based on opinion and can therefore not be proven right or wrong.

10.Potential growth

Potential growth is an increase in the quality and/or quantity of the factors of production, represented by an outward shift of the PPC curve.

11.Scarcity

Scarcity is the limited availability of economic resources relative to society's unlimited demand for goods and services.

12.Land

Land is a physical factor of production consisting of natural resources including non-renewable resources such as iron ore or renewable resources such as wheat.

13.Actual growth

Actual growth is the employment of previously unemployed factors of production, represented by movement from a point within a PPC to a new point nearer to the PPC.

14.Economic growth

Economic growth is defined as growth of real output (GDP) in an economy over time.经济增长定义为一个经济体在一段时间内实际产出(GDP)的增长。

15.Economic development

Economic development is described as an improvImprovement in standards of living, health, education, freedom, economic choice and a reduction in poverty.

16.Sustainable development

17.Free market economy

A free market economy is an economy in which the means of production are privately held by individuals and firms. Demand and suppyl determine what is produced, how it is produced and for whom it is produced.

18.Transition economy

A transition economy is an economy that is in the process of moving from a centrally planned economic system to a more market-oriented economic system.

19.Planned economy

A planned economy is an economy in which the state owns the means of production and determines what is produced, how it is produced and for whom it is produced.

20.Economic good

Economic goods are goods or services that are relatively scarce and thus have a price. An opportunity cost is created when an economic good is consumed.
